We provide targeted or discovery-based protein identification and characterization using mass spectrometry (MS) and immunoassay-based techniques. Through evaluating proteomic and metabolomic changes, our researchers can identify biomarkers that indicate the intake and status of nutrients, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and other food components and bioactive compounds.
We have identified biomarkers related to nutrition for a variety of applications including: dietary assessment, measurement of actual digestive absorption and metabolism, the effects of foods when eaten together, the effect of cooking on nutrients and the nutrient and small molecule composition of foods. DHMRI assists clients in nutritional biomarker identification for the purpose of developing functional food products and supplements, determining the impact of nutrients or bioactive compounds on health and disease and enhancing the nutritional profile of foods including fruits and vegetables.
