The DHMRI is a non-profit service provider offering a multi-omics approach to both academic and commercial clients interested in the biology associated with human health, nutrition and agriculture and is located at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC.

Position Summary

The finance analyst will be an integral part of the accounting and finance team. This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day accounting needs of the organization. This includes working directly with all organization managers, 3rd party CPA and 3rd party HR team. The candidate will need to be able to analyze variances from budget and notify management of any unusual trends. As our organizational revenues are project based, cost accounting is particularly important. This position is also responsible for tracking certain Key Performance Indicators ( KPI’s) that the management team determines are important to trend.

Additionally this position will assist in developing policies and procedures to document each piece of the accounting cycle as well as help develop financial reporting tools to provide timely and accurate data to department managers.

In addition, this position is also responsible for working with department managers to develop and maintain the annual budget. Throughout the year, they will assist in forecasting and modeling financial performance given various variables. The Executive Committee of the Board and the management team often request financial information to assist with certain decisions. This position is responsible for meeting those ad hoc accounting needs and for working with the external CPA on reports for the Board.

The administrative office includes 2.5 FTE’s (an Operations Manager, part time AP/data entry position and this position). Therefore, this position would need to cross train on the Operations Manager’s duties to support in absences. Teamwork between these two employees is critically important.

Job Requirements:

• 7+ years’ experience in professional accounting and/or finance role
• Ability to be a strong team player
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
• Attention to detail and desire for continual process improvement
• Ability to multi-task and adjust to the needs of the moment
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow through on directions from external CPA and ask appropriate questions to ensure work is completed accurately and timely.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and preferably QuickBooks
